Memories for Sale was an exhibition that resulted from a particularly fortunate photo junket in search of backstock images for a client project. The pictures were taken at a small antique store in Lucketts, Virginia in color and printed in black and white in keeping with the mood of the day. What was striking about the outting was the sheer number of gadgets, implements, furniture, toys, and household items from yesteryear. The joy of rummaging and discovery was mingled with a bittersweet sense of the items' previous owners. What excitement they must have felt having acquired these items for the first time? What obstacles did they overcome to earn them? I felt a sense of responsibility sifting through the leftovers of dreams and aspirations felt by people who were no longer with us. It was humbling to consider what my cherished items might have looked like mixed in with the lot.

Project Story

Our clients frequently request unusual images or unique effects, gathering image stock assists us in providing an economical and interesting array of choices for project use. Occasionally these images become the basis of interface elements or may feature in an instructional course. In this case, many of the images were used for exhibition.
